Its craggy south face overlooks Lochan nan Cat. The summit is not easily seen from the A road, from where the ascent is usually started.
A path follows the Lawers Burn towards Lochan nan on: Perth and Kinross, Scotland. Meall Garbh, meaning 'Rough Round hill' (meall means 'lump' in Gaelic), may refer to several hills in Scotland.

Meall Garbh is a mountain in the southern part of the Scottish Highlands. With Meall Greigh it forms the north-eastern end of the Ben Lawers range.

I went east a little and followed a fence up alongside a wood and then the Allt nan Clach Sgoilte to the stream at about NN The stile on the other end reveals the days route, into the Nature Reserve and the initial plan of Meall Greigh, Meall Garbh and An Stuc.

From the gently rounded summit, a ridge runs N to the steep and craggy Meall Garbh. To the E of Meall Garbh a path from Bridge of Gaur in Glen Rannoch gives a possible but long access route.
